Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans – NFL Betting Preview
The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Tennessee Titans this week with the home standing Titans seeking revenge for an opening week loss last season.
The bookmakers set the NFL betting spread on this contest at Tennessee -5 at home, with the betting ‘total’ set at 36½.
Granted, there are glaring differences at quarterback for each team this year compared to last season, when the matchup was Ben Roethlisberger vs. Kerry Collins. Now, Pittsburgh Steelers third stringer Dennis Dixon again gets the start for the suspended Big Ben, while Vince Young is now the man for the Tennessee Titans, leading the team to an 8-2 finish last season after Collins got them off to an 0-6 start.

Tennessee Titans 2010-2011 Season Preview
A Look Back – After losing six games by a huge margin and really being a non-competitive team, the Tennessee Titans made a huge change in their philosophy by benching QB Kerry Collins and turning to QB Vince Young. Young led the team to wins in eight of its final ten games and nearly all the way back to the playoffs. With Young the undisputed starter for this year’s team, hopes are high in Tennessee.

A Titanic Hole in Tennessee’s Offense: Chris Johnson
Much like the Titan Atlas, who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, Titans running back Chris Johnson carries the weight of his team on his. The Tennessee Titans all purpose back, who set an NFL record for yards from scrimmage in 2009, is in the midst of a bitter contract dispute. Without Johnson, the Titans are very thin at the running back position. Second on the depth chart is Javon Ringer, a second year player out of Michigan State who had a total of 48 rushing yards in 2009. Whether the Titans offense will be directed by Vince Young or Kerry Collins in Week 1 at home vs. the Oakland Raiders, it stands to be a tough day if Johnson is on the sidelines.

Could Chris Johnson Hold Out?
Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans is probably the biggest bargain in the NFL making a base salary of $550,000 in his third year of a five year contract.
Johnson isn’t attending offseason workouts with the Jaguars prefering to workout on his own. Could Johnson hold out and miss part of the season after topping 2,000 rushing yards in 2009?
As much as it pains me to say this about someone who received a $7 million signing bonus, but I think he has to.
