Early Odds for 2011 Big 12 College Football

In this wacky year, the Big Ten conference will have 12 teams and the Big 12 will have only ten after the departure of Colorado and Nebraska. The Big 12 landscape will change significantly without those two. Here is an early look at the college football betting odds for who in the Big 12 has the best chance to win the 2012 national championship.

The Oklahoma Sooners top the list as the most likely team in the nation to go all the way this year with 2012 BCS championship odds of +370. The dynamic passing duo of quarterback Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles will be back, along with linebacker Travis Lewis and four starters on the offensive line.

Alamo Bowl Preview: Arizona Wildcats vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

High powered passing attacks will be on display as the 14th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Arizona Wildcats. The Cowboys are seeking a record 11th win, while the Wildcats are looking to salvage a season that has fallen apart. After starting 7-1 and ranking 9th in the standings, they lost four straight. The Wildcats are a 5 point underdog in the college bowl lines.

The Arizona Wildcats have a very strong passing game that ranked 8th in nation. Quarterback Nick Foles led the PAC-10 with 291.1 yards per game and finished with 19 scores and seven interceptions. Juron Criner, the top receiver in the conference, caught 73 passes for 1,186 yards and 10 touchdowns. The running game was not great, ranking 85th nationally with 135.2 yards per game.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Game Preview

In one of the premier games of the college football season, the 9th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys host the 13th ranked Oklahoma Sooners for a spot in the Big 12 championship game. Led by their two powerful offenses, these teams have in essence a one game playoff. Both teams are coming off wins, with the Cowboys knocking off Kansas and the Sooners beating Baylor. The Cowboys are a 2.5 point favorite in the college football odds.

Baylor Bears vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Game Preview

Two surprise teams will be playing this weekend for a chance at the Big 12 South championship. The 17th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys host the 21st ranked Baylor Bears in a battle of two teams that had very low expectations before this season started. The Bears have won three in a row, the last one over rival Texas. The Cowboys knocked off Kansas State last week, 24-14. The Bears are a 7.5 point underdog in the college football odds.

Oklahoma State Cowboys 2010-2011 Season Preview

The Oklahoma State Cowboys had back to back nine win seasons the last two years, not an easy feat to accomplish in the Big 12. Even without star receiver Dez Bryant, the Cowboys played well, barely missing double digit wins after a loss to Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl. A new scheme and new players will try to continue the Cowboys’ winning ways.
