Signing Day Winners

Predicting the success of high school football players at the next level is far from being an exact science, but it is fun. Now that National Signing Day has come and gone, let’s take a look at who came out on top.

Depending on where you look, the rankings of success will be different. No one can argue the SEC looks to be the big winner though, with four schools having their class ranked among the top ten. The Alabama Crimson Tide had a great class, grabbing 15 four or five star recruits according to ESPN. The defending champion Auburn Tigers looked to restock well, with 16 highly touted recruits.

Early Odds for 2011 ACC College Football

The ACC is not known as a football powerhouse, and that stereotype proved true in 2010. Teams had a hard time competing against out of conference opponents, but that may be different in 2011. There were several major shakeups in the conference that could change the outlook for 2011.

The Florida State Seminoles are the most highly favored team in the ACC in odds to win the college football national title, with a line of +1,200. Head coach Jimbo Fisher did a great job in his first season and it should continue this year. Quarterback Christian Ponder is gone, but the majority of the team will be returning.

ACC Championship Game Preview

The Atlantic Coast Conference championship game features two teams that have rebounded well from two game losing streaks. After dropping their first two games of the season, including one to an FCS program, the Virginia Tech Hokies have won 10 in a row and are now ranked 15th. The Florida State Seminoles are in the midst of a three game winning streak and are currently ranked 21st. The college football betting lines have the Hokies as a four point favorite.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Florida State Seminoles Preview

Norman, Oklahoma will be the site of a major top 25 matchup in the second week of college football. The Oklahoma Sooners take on the Florida State Seminoles in a battle that will have far reaching implications.

The Florida State Seminoles blew out their first opponent, Samford, by a score 59-6. Oklahoma on the other hand, had their hands full and narrowly beat Utah State 31-24. Oklahoma is a 9.5 point favorite in college football lines.

Florida State Seminoles 2010-2011 Season Preview

2009 Total Offense Rank (yards per game): 28
2009 Total Defense Rank (yards per game): 108

For the first time in 34 years, Bobby Bowden will not be the head coach of the Florida State Seminoles. Jimbo Fisher takes over the team and hopes he will be able to have even a fraction of the success Bowden did. With new defensive coordinator Mark Stoops, Fisher will try to bring Florida State back to prominence.
