The Cincinnati Bearcats are a team that consistently overachieves in a very balanced Big East college football division.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are bringing in a new quarterback this season to replace Tony Pike, but that’s not likely to hurt them much because their veteran offensive line will give them a lot of time to get comfortable and they have solid rushers and receivers who should give their QB plenty of options. Zach Collaros, the likely replacement for Pike, put up some excellent numbers when Pike went down to injury.

Defense is where they will struggle. There has been a lot of turnover and they are switching to a 4-3 defense and patching in players that were recruited to play a 3-4. They will need a couple of years to recruit the players they need to run an effective 3-4.

Despite all of the turmoil on defense, nobody would be too surprised to see them at the top of the Big East when all is said and done if the players they are plugging in to the 4-3 can play well enough. They don’t have to be great, just good enough to let the offense decide the game.

Bearcats odds to win the Big East: +500.
